To-dos
I'll keep track of your to-dos and remind you when they're due so that you can get them done.
Your to-dos
How do retrieve and browse my to-do list?
By email, Twitter, or Jott
To have Sandy look up and return a particular to-do or set of to-dos, email her with:
lookup [any text in the name of the to-do; any tags associated with the to-do]
For example:
lookup dry cleaning
lookup @errands
To look up all the undone to-dos on your to-do list, email Sandy with:
lookup to-dos
Sandy will return the next 25 to-dos you have coming up (and link to your full to-do list on her web site).
You can even ask Sandy to find to-dos you have due on a particular date by emailing her with:
lookup this week's to-dos
lookup tomorrow's to-dos
On the web
You'll find your to-do list on Sandy's web site.
Adding to-dos to your to-do list
How do I create a to-do?
By email, Twitter, or Jott
To have Sandy add something to your to-do list, email her with:
remember [thing to do] @todo
For example:
remember to pick up the dry cleaning @todo
remember to clear out the gutters @todo
Notice the "@todo" tag? Tagging something with @todo tells Sandy to put it on your to-do list.
Any word starting with "@" is treated as a tag (you can think of tags as labels, categories, or folders if you prefer) and is applied to the thing you're asking Sandy to remember for you.
On the web
Create a new to-do on Sandy's web site by clicking the "New..." link in the toolbar (the blue strip near the top of the page), asking Sandy to remember something for you, and tagging it with "@todo" in just the same way you would by email, Twitter, or Jott (see "By email, Twitter, or Jott" above).
How do I turn an existing item into a to-do?
By email, Twitter, or Jott
Reply to any email from Sandy in which she mentions the item you'd like to turn into a to-do with:
update #[item number] @todo
For example: Let's say Sandy confirmed something you asked her to remember, included the item in a set of lookup results, or sent you a reminder to pick up the dry cleaning like so:
#1 Pick up the dry cleaning
Turn that item into a to-do by replying with:
update #1 @todo
On the web
The simplest way to turn an existing item into a to-do is to find the item in Your stuff, click its name, then the "Edit" link, tag it as @todo (in the "Tags" field, type: @todo), and click the "Save" button).
Scheduling to-dos
How do I schedule a to-do for a particular date?
By email, Twitter, or Jott
To have Sandy schedule a to-do for a particular date (and remind you when it's due), email her with the to-do and mention a due date or time:
remember [thing to do] [date or time] @todo
For example:
remember to pick up the dry cleaning this afternoon @todo
remind me to clear out the gutters by March 15th @todo
Scheduling a to-do works just like any other reminder or appointment. The only difference is the @todo tag.
On the web
To schedule a to-do for a particular date or time, find the to-do item in your to-do list, click its name, then the "Edit" link, (tag it as @todo if you've not already done so), select a reminder date or time, and click the "Save" button.
Turning to-dos into dones
How do I mark a to-do as done?
Tagging an item with @done let's Sandy know that it's done and no longer to-do.
By email, Twitter, or Jott
Reply to any email from Sandy in which she mentions the item you'd like to turn into a to-do with:
update #[item number] @done
For example: Let's say Sandy confirmed a to-do you asked her to remember, included it in a set of lookup results, or sent you a reminder to pick up the dry cleaning like so:
#1 Pick up the dry cleaning @todo
Mark that to-do as done by replying with:
update #1 @done
On the web
A. The simplest way to mark a to-do as done is to find the item in your to-do list and click the checkbox to the its left — you'll notice the checkbox is checked, indicating that the to-do is done.
B. Alternately, you can click the name of the existing item and — in the detail box that appears — click the "Mark done" link.
C. And of course you can always edit the existing to-do item: find it in your to-do list, click its name, then the "Edit" link, add a @done tag (in the "Tags" field, type: @done), and click the "Save" button.
When you tag a to-do with @done — via email or by editing it on Sandy's web site — Sandy will take care of removing the @todo tag for you.
